On the doorstep
While the Burnaby campus is more isolated than the downtown venues, everything you need will be available on campus. The Arthur Erikson inspired campus is a 20-minute drive from both
downtown Vancouver and Vancouver’s North Shore.
Accommodation
The Burnaby campus can house groups of 10 to 1,000. Accommodation includes individual residence rooms, townhouses and rooms at the Simon Hotel.
Restaurants
Enjoy West coast dining and great views at Horizons restaurant in Burnaby Mountain Park when it re-opens after renovations in fall 2010.
Visit the neighbourhood of Burnaby Heights on East Hastings between Boundary Road and Gamma Avenue for a good selection of restaurants. The one to look out for is The Pear Tree at 4120 East Hastings which has won numerous regional restaurant awards.
Shopping
Metropolis at Metrotown is BC’s biggest mall with close to 500 shops and restaurants. The huge mall at 4700 Kingsway is located 15-20 minutes south of the Burnaby campus.

Commercial Drive in east Vancouver, less than 15 minutes away. Vancouver’s downtown shopping districts are a 20-minute drive from the campus.
After hours
› Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area surrounds the SFU campus. Attractions include the Centennial Rose Gardens, the Japanese totem poles - Kamui Mintara,
hiking trails and a bike park.
› The university’s Museum of Archaeology & Ethnography features totem poles and carving from BC as well as collections from around the world.
› The municipal Burnaby Mountain Golf Course & Driving Range is a 10-minute drive south of the campus.
Recreation facilities at SFU include squash, racquetball and tennis courts, a pool, softball diamond and fitness centre.
