
The Vancouver Art Gallery has the largest collection of Emily Carr paintings and sketches in the world, and holds close to 9,000 art works and growing! It has an extensive international photo-based collection, and showcases historical and contemporary works from renowned Vancouver-based artists such as Jack Shadbolt, Robert Davidson and Ian Wallace.
Inside and out, there is never a dull moment at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Explore the gallery complex, which features 4 stories of exhibition space, a library, boutique, and cafe. Gatherings occur regularly on the front steps of Vancouver Art Gallery including protest rallies, environmental demonstrations and live music concerts.

Originally home to the Vancouver Courthouse, the Vancouver Art Gallery building stands out with its neoclassical style designed by Francis Rattenbury in 1906. This famous architect is known for his designs of the Empress Hotel in Victoria and the British Columbia Parliament buildings. The Vancouver Art Gallery was renovated in the 1930's by renowned architect Arthur Erickson, and is part of the Robson Square complex.

Permanent Gallery Exhibitions: The second and third floor gallery spaces regularly feature works from the Vancouver Art Gallery permanent collection.
The focus is usually on historical and contemporary art works from BC artists including Emily Carr, Susan Point and Jeff Wall, to name a few.
› Special Events: The Vancouver Art Gallery has something for everyone including, artist and curator talks, exhibition openings, group tours, and weekly family programs. FUSE occurs monthly and includes art, music and live performances for adults.
Hours & Rates:
Gallery hours are 10-5pm daily and Tuesday until 9pm.
Adults $19.50; Seniors (65+) $19.50; Students (with valid ID) $14; Children (5-12 years) $7; Children (4 and under) free; Family (max. 2 adults and 2 children) $50; Members are Free.
*Go on Tuesday evenings; after 5pm it is by donation.

If you are driving, there is metered parking spots available downtown near the Pacific Center Mall, Robson Square Complex , and Hotel Vancouver.
By public transit:
The Vancouver Art Gallery is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. It is a 3 minute walk from the Burrard skytrain and Granville Canada line stations. All downtown buses will stop near the Vancouver Art Gallery premises.

Tips: The Gallery Cafe is the best kept secret in Vancouver, where you can listen to live jazz music on the outdoor patio during summer evenings (Tues-Friday, until end of September). This little gem has a great menu of appetizers, main courses and amazing deserts. A fun place to go and get a great view of downtown Vancouver!
