The Vancouver International Jazz Festival
This internationally renowned music festival brings soulful brass tunes and jazz vocals to the many stages of Vancouver. Ranging from chamber to modern to post bop, you can experience all types of jazz music. Day and night, there are a variety of free, open- air concerts as well as ticketed performances to choose from.
When: End of June - Early July
Where: There are a number of free concerts happening around Vancouver including in Gastown near the famous steam clock, the Cellar Restaurant and Jazz Club, or at outdoor stages around the Granville Island Market.
Ticketed performances take place at various indoor venues including: The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, the Orpheum Theatre, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and the Commodore Ballroom.

The Vancouver Folk Festival
One of the most successful folk festivals in Canada, the weekend-long VFF holds 30-40 concerts annually attracting 30 000 folk music fans. This is a great place to see the still vibrant Vancouver hippie scene, grooving to some good old fashioned rock & roll and blues tunes. The VFF features traditional and contemporary North American folk and pop music, as well as many folk beats and sounds from cultures around the world.

Presenting classical, world and jazz music, this is one of Vancouver's most diverse music festivals. This musical event lasts 2 weeks and presents over 50 concerts featuring local, national and international musical talent.
When: Second week of August.
Where: Various Vancouver performance venues including Scotiabank Dance Centre, VanDusen Gardens, Vancouver Art Gallery, Christ Church Cathedral, Norman Rothstein Theatre, UBC Recital Hall, and The Cellar.

The Vancouver Recital Society's Chamber Music Festival
This chamber music festival presents international renowned classical artists such as Yo-Yo Ma and Cecelia Bartoli. With a selection of piano, cello, violin, opera and string quartet concerts, this festival showcases a variety of classical music styles to suit all tastes.
